Art-by-Stacy offers painting classes on the History of Color during the month of January.
These classes are perfect for beginner through advanced painters who just want a refresher course.
At the start of each class, students will be presented with a brief history of color, as it relates to pigments in paint. Students will learn when the pigments were first used, if they have gone extinct, and will be shown examples from art history of that specific pigment in use. This should take approximately 20-40 minutes of each session.
Students will then work on a project in class that uses the corresponding colors, exploring various techniques. Students will either be working from their eye, via still life set-up or via printed photograph of their own provision.
Students will have a group critique once a month to discuss the artwork made from those studied pigments.
Cost is $30 per class meeting or $150 for the entire month of January (5 Mondays or 5 Tuesdays).
Students bring their own supplies, either Acrylics or Oils.
