Look out, here comes Audrey Two!
The worldwide phenomenon, Little Shop of Horrors, gets a brand new production at Houston’s newest arts venue, EaDo Playhouse, April 28 through May 14!
Including famous songs like “Suddenly Seymour,” “Dentist!,” “Somewhere That’s Green” and “Feed Me,” this brand new envisioning of the beloved musical spoof features a book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken.
LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is based on Roger Corman’s 1960 B-movie of the same name and began its life in 1982, eventually transferring to Off-Broadway at the Orpheum Theater, where it enjoyed a five year run.
Since, the musical has been adapted into an infamous film starring Ellen Greene, Rick Moranis and Steve Martin, an animated series, made a splashy Broadway debut in 2003 and has been performed by thousands of theatre companies, worldwide.
Now a household name, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS returns to Houston in a fresh new production at EaDo Playhouse!
“You better watch your back and beware!” The Greek chorus of street urchins, Crystal, Ronnette and Chiffon, warn the audience as we descend into the murky depths of Mushnik’s Skid Row Florists.
Once inside, we meet down-and-out floral assistant, Seymour Krelborn, his boss and the shop’s namesake, Mr. Mushnik, and the beautiful, yet painfully ditzy floral designer, Audrey. Seymour reveals his newest botanical discovery; an unidentifiable plant that he picked up in the Wholesale Flower District during a total solar eclipse.
The plant appears to be some sort of a fly trap, but little does Seymour know the dark secrets it hides within its tendrils.
LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS devours EaDo Playhouse April 28 through May 14 with Friday and Saturday performances at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 5:00 p.m.
