Jazz singer and songwriter Raquel Cepeda is celebrating the release of her new album—Passion—with a CD release concert and gala on October 19 at Houston’s MATCH Theater. Cepeda’s latest release is her most personal to date: a Latin jazz mosaic of 13 pieces, polishing five original compositions among gems from North and South American repertoires. The album’s progressive arrangements blend American swing elements with Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian rhythms while incorporating further influences from Argentina and Venezuela.
The 7:30pm album release concert is part of by the Houston Art Explosion Festival and will be held at Matchbox 4, followed by the gala from 9:00pm to 12:00am at the MATCH Gallery. Works by renowned Venezuelan artist Roberto Weill will serve as backdrop for live performances by a variety of musical artists as gala guests enjoy food and drinks, a chance to meet and greet Cepeda in person, and a copy of the new CD.
The CD release concert will take place at 7:30 PM at Matchbox 4, and will showcase many of the same artists from the studio sessions, along with Felix De León on trumpet and Héctor Molina on cuatro. The performance will be followed by the a gala at 9:00 PM, to feature works by renowned Venezuelan cartoon artist Roberto Weil, enjoy live entertainment, and a chance to meet and greet personally with me after the concert.
