DESCRIPTION:NobleMotion Spelunks into Industrial Cave World\nThroughout time\, the cave has been a mystical place\, an opening into earth where humans have found shelter\, given birth\, performed rituals and burial rites\, and told stories. Set in a futuristic primal society\, Stalactites draws inspiration from Plato’s allegory of the cave as a response to current advances in AI technology. The theater is transformed into an industrial cave with climbable architectural structures designed by Jared Doster. The light grid is lowered into the performance space\, allowing light designer Bryan Ealey to shape the world as the dancers perform above the fixtures. And a new hour-long music score by Travis Lake haunts and renders beautiful a hollow world full of possibility. Stalactites is an evocative evening-length performance that offers a glimpse into one possible future of human “progress.”

DESCRIPTION:August 22\, 2024\nCreative Minds Collaborative presents “Meiji Dances”\, a new dance piece choreographed by Nao Kusuzaki. Inspired by the current special exhibition at The Museum of Fine Arts Houston\, “Meiji Modern: Fifty Years of New Japan”\, the work intertwines traditional Japanese dance forms with contemporary vocabularies and reflect the collision and integration of Western influences.\nThe narrative is set in modern-day Japan and mirrors the spirit of the era\, celebrating both the richness of Japan’s heritage and its embrace of global influences. The performance is accompanied by live musicians led by pianist Kana Mimaki\, who draws from Japanese composers such as Rentaro Taki\, with Western compositions by Camille Saint-Saëns.
