SUMMARY:May 22- June 27\, 2026 Exhibitions
DESCRIPTION:BOX 13 ArtSpace is pleased to present four new exhibitions opening Friday\, May 22\, 2026 6–9 PM.\nBOX 13 ArtSpace is pleased to present in the Front BOX gallery we show “Scaff(Holding)” by Jordan Vinyard transforms Box 13 Artspace into an absurd choreography of labor hierarchies. Vinyard dissects and sutures through works that are as repulsive as they are endearing. The exhibit in the Back gallery at BOX 13 ArtSpace features “Last Night and Tomorrow” is an exhibit of multi-media prints and installation by Gaby Hurtado-Ramos in the Back BOX gallery. Through layered drawings\, photographs\, and prints\, Hurtado-Ramos explores the multiple outcomes possible in both the physical print process and in scenes of hopefulness longing for a future with a dance floor. In our Window BOX gallery Dario Salvatore Bucheli presents a site-specific painting titled “Transformation Cycle”. The work follows the snake’s mythic journey\, inviting viewers to consider cycles of change\, surrender\, and renewal within their own lives. Moving to our Upstairs BOX gallery we are excited to introduce “Do You Have Papers?” laments those loved and overlooked by systems that fail to value them as people with collecting and mixed-media craft. This exhibition uses archiving as an act of resilience and appreciates immigrant clutter by devoting space to the remnants that illustrate their shared experiences.\nThe exhibitions continue through June 27\,\, 2026. An Opening Reception will be held on Friday May 22\, 2026 6–9 PM at BOX 13 ArtSpace\, 6700 Harrisburg\, Houston\, TX 77011.\nThis event is funded in part by the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance and Houston MOCA. Additional support is provided by The Brown Foundation\, Saint Arnold Brewing Company\, Giant Texas Distillers\, JP Morgan – Nancy O’Connor Fund\, and all who help make our programming possible.

SUMMARY:March 6 – April 11\, 2026 Exhibitions
DESCRIPTION:BOX 13 ArtSpace is pleased to present four new exhibitions opening Friday\, March 6\, 2026 6–9 PM.\nBOX 13 ArtSpace is pleased to present in the front gallery: “The Classroom” by Darla Barolini is a series of large-scale figurative paintings that depict imagined classroom scenes drawn from the artist’s experiences as an educator\, exploring the emotional and psychological dynamics of learning spaces. “De-Documenting” by Beatriz Bellorín at Back Box gallery is a multimedia installation that transforms court documents from the 2025 case National TPS Alliance v. Noem to interrogate the bureaucratic logics of U.S. immigration systems. Through repetition and abstraction\, the work reveals how official language can obscure lived experience while exposing the human stakes of Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelans. Amelia Key’s site-specific installation “Interstice” at BOX 13 Window BOX Gallery suspends PEX pipe and mixed-media elements\, creating a weightless pause in the flow of everyday life. “Out of Pocket: Memory” in Reverb is an exhibition by Jonathan Durham at Box 13 Upstairs BOX gallery that explores memory and cognitive decline through sculptural strategies drawn from Alzheimer’s behaviors such as looping and pocketing. Using repetition\, mutation\, and concealment\, the work frames memory as an embodied\, unstable process shaped by holes\, fragmentation and confabulation rather than any fixed archive.\nThe exhibitions continue through April 11\, 2026. An Opening Reception will be held on Friday March 6\, 2026 6–9 PM at BOX 13 ArtSpace\, 6700 Harrisburg\, Houston\, TX 77011.\nA special thank you to Houston Arts Alliance\, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs\, The Brown Foundation\, Saint Arnold Brewing\, and all who have helped to support our programming.

SUMMARY:October 24 – November 22\, 2025 Exhibitions
DESCRIPTION:Box 13 ArtSpace is pleased to present\, “Snap It Up” by artist Mitchell Reece at Front Box Gallery reimagines family memory through paintings\, artifacts\, and archival materials inspired by the artist’s grandmother’s journey with Alzheimer’s. Blending discovery\, faith\, and Black familial resilience\, the exhibition transforms domestic space into a sacred timeline of intimate histories and collective strength. Back BOX gallery PrintHouston is pleased to announce “PressForward 2025”\, a national student printmaking exhibition to be held at BOX 13. Juried by J. Leigh Garcia. There will be exceptional works from current student printmakers that explore the wide range of traditional and innovative printmaking processes. Next we have “Map of the World (Blinds)” fills BOX13’s window gallery with small paper pulp shapes and standing wood sculptures that feature repeated motifs like spirals\, crescent moons\, and stars. Through representing images related to the cosmos\, these multimedia works explore an entity that is unable to be touched or held. The objects are small and textural in nature\, creating tender and tactile representations of a grandiose concept. Moving upstairs “IT’S B*LLSHIT!!” is a critique of our inadequate system that aims to keep our diverse communities silenced and indifferent towards adversity. Sirena Nieves’s collection of curious sculptures can be located in the upper box\, at Box13.\nThe exhibitions continue through November 22\, 2025. An Opening Reception will be held on Friday Friday October 23\, 2025 6pm to 9pm at BOX 13 ArtSpace\, 6700 Harrisburg\, Houston\, TX 77011.\nA special thank you to Houston Arts Alliance \, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs\, The Brown Foundation Saint Arnold Brewing and all who have helped to support our programing.

SUMMARY:PUSH/PULL Exhibition Project
DESCRIPTION:PUSH/PULL is a transdisciplinary exhibition project featuring new works by aisha tida and Leila Mnekbi\, developed with the support of ARCOS Dance. The exhibition at Box13 ArtSpace invites visitors to experiment with notions of agency and collectivity while questioning the patterns\, loops\, and illusions that we wish to escape.\nA quilted structure by aisha tida envelops visitors in isolated overwhelm\, scored by Mnekbi’s discordant\, layered questioning in the multilingual sound experience Lines Lines On These Walls. These symbiotic works form the spatial sensory installation IN/OUT/THRU\, where visitors can slow down\, examine without judgment\, and sit with the weight they carry—not as an isolated burden\, but as a shared\, collective heaviness. Guided by an omniscient voice and surrounded by shifting sonic textures\, visitors are asked to be present in the chaos before engaging in collective commiserating and creative processing in the community-activated Aftercare Space.\nPUSH/PULL is further animated by a roster of public programming\, including an interactive opening night performance by ARCOS and skillsharing workshops oriented around materials featured in the exhibition.\nAt its core\, PUSH/PULL demonstrates the need for reflective pause and the exploration of the creative potential of togetherness. Its offerings serve as a reminder that even in fragmentation\, we are not alone.\nPUSH/PULL is on view in the Upstairs BOX Gallery at Box13 ArtSpace in Houston\, May 30 to June 28\, 2025\, open to the public Saturdays or by appointment. The PUSH/PULL Exhibition Project is funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.
