SUMMARY:September 5- October 4\, 2025 Exhibitions
DESCRIPTION:BOX 13 ArtSpace is pleased to present four new exhibitions opening Friday September 5\, 2025 6pm to 10pm.\nBOX 13 ArtSpace is pleased to present in our Front BOX gallery the work of photographer Brittainy Lauback. “Golden Somewhere” is about the long summer days where the days are long and the nights are restless\, a season that still feels like freedom but carries a quiet weight. It’s about heat\, stillness\, memory\, and the strange sadness that lingers in all that golden light. In our Back BOX gallery we are excited to show work by Giovanni Valderas. “Return Architect” investigates the realities faced by marginalized communities of color\, often perceived as “nuisances” within neighborhoods undergoing economic and social pressures. The work explores the systemic erosion of agency\, highlighting how working-class individuals are affected by everything from microaggressions to exclusionary city ordinances in the face of aggressive gentrification. The Window BOX gallery featured artist Demi Kahn. “Moments from Dawn to Dusk” is a vibrant installation exploring how we collect and carry moments through time and how they shape our understanding of the past\, the unfolding of the present\, and the possibilities of the future. With a central tree-like form and many suspended fiber sculptures\, artist Demi Kahn invites viewers into a space of reflection\, where presence feels fluid and healing has no fixed path. On view in the Upstairs Box gallery\, Jean Sandova’s show “Psychic Self-Defense” uses sculpture and painting to capture the surreal\, intrusive visions sparked by burnout and digital overload. Through biting humor and visceral imagery\, the work explores the absurdities of modern life as both a mirror and an escape hatch for the overwhelmed psyche.\nThe exhibitions continue through October 4\, 2025. An Opening Reception will be held on Friday September 5\, 2025 6pm to 10pm at BOX 13 ArtSpace\, 6700 Harrisburg\, Houston\, TX 77011.\nA special thank you to Houston Arts Alliance\, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs\, The Brown Foundation\, Saint Arnold Brewing\, and all who have helped to support our programming.
