Vinyard dissects and sutures through works that are as repulsive as they are endearing. The exhibit in the Back gallery at BOX 13 ArtSpace features “Last Night and Tomorrow” is an exhibit of multi-media prints and installation by Gaby Hurtado-Ramos in the Back BOX gallery. Through layered drawings\, photographs\, and prints\, Hurtado-Ramos explores the multiple outcomes possible in both the physical print process and in scenes of hopefulness longing for a future with a dance floor. In our Window BOX gallery Dario Salvatore Bucheli presents a site-specific painting titled “Transformation Cycle”. The work follows the snake’s mythic journey\, inviting viewers to consider cycles of change\, surrender\, and renewal within their own lives. Moving to our Upstairs BOX gallery we are excited to introduce “Do You Have Papers?” laments those loved and overlooked by systems that fail to value them as people with collecting and mixed-media craft. This exhibition uses archiving as an act of resilience and appreciates immigrant clutter by devoting space to the remnants that illustrate their shared experiences.\nThe exhibitions continue through June 27\,\, 2026. An Opening Reception will be held on Friday May 22\, 2026 6–9 PM at BOX 13 ArtSpace\, 6700 Harrisburg\, Houston\, TX 77011.\nThis event is funded in part by the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance and Houston MOCA. SUMMARY:The Door Opens: Art & Meditation Series
DESCRIPTION:The Door Opens reveals what’s on the other side of choosing to heal yourself. It represents a process that is glorified but is terrifying to actively engage: Change. We are commonly told to get over things and to let go of the past\, but we are not taught how to feel and transform our pain into power. We need tangible tools that actually impact the relationship to our fears\, insecurities\, and spiritual disconnection. The Door Opens answers that call.\nThis project is rooted in the power of art\, stillness\, and community to open you up and create a new you. If you’ve been feeling stuck and held back\, this is your opportunity to see what “opening the door” can mean for you. With The Door Opens\, we are welcoming versions of ourselves that are willing to speak up and have a voice in our own lives. We are breaking through the walls that stop us from being authentic\, and most importantly\, we are opening the door to a life of fulfillment because we are willing to build it.\nJoin us for a month filled with opportunities to reconnect with yourself and embrace change. There will be an event every weekend in the month of May\, kicking off with an art exhibit opening on May 2nd\, 2026 from 6-8pm. A sound bath meditation session\, artist talk\, jazz night\, and animation screening will follow. The art exhibit will be on view until June 5th.\nAll events\, except for the jazz night\, are free and open to the public. Visit andreavenson.com for full programming details and registration access.\nThis project is funded in part by the Houston Arts Alliance.
