Sound Exchange Plants Its Flag at New East End Location with Free In-Store Performances and Events

Sound Exchange will present a series of performances and events to introduce the store’s new location at 101 N. Milby Street, in Houston’s East End. The eclectic lineup affirms the mission of owners Kevin Bakos and Kurt Brennan to promote unique listening experiences and support local culture. Signaling continuity, the inaugural performance will feature an opening set by noise artist Austin Caustic who, earlier this month, delivered an intense visceral work that closed out the store’s previous location in Montrose.
Students Uncover Hidden Talents while Stamping Houston’s History on Mural-Painted Cubes

Seven eighth-grade art students from Deady Middle School in East End Houston recently completed an eight-foot-by-eight-foot mural-painted cube that reflects Houston’s beginnings and the Ship Channel’s history. The student’s creation is one of five large, colorful cubes on display in the East End throughout the year.
