Cease Martinez, a Houston native, is a self-taught artist producing artwork professionally since the mid 90s’. He is best known for his realistic style of painting. Mediums of choice are aerosol, acrylic, and airbrush. Cease is a professional tattooist and served as Art Director at BreakFree HipHop school for 5 years. Cease has created murals at venues and stores throughout the country and has work featured in multiple music videos including Beyonce’s No Angel. Currently he has installations in Star Cinema and Houston’s Graffiti Park. His artwork was featured at Travis Scott’s first Astro World Festival in Houston. He’s been a guest artist for Converse at Nordsrtom Rack in Austin Texas, MTV’s My Sweet 16, and has a mural featured in the hip-hop documentary Evolution on Netflix. Today you can find him airbrushing murals on lowriders and hitting switches while creating murals and tattooing at Moonlight Tattoo studio in Houston Texas.

I love the East End. I always try and represent the culture and integrity of the Second Ward so my work represents our culture in the neighborhood. This mural reflects childhood memories of Sunday funday. As a child I remember my tia and her boyfriend cruising the boulevard and jamming oldies. I’ve always known Navigation to be the place to hang out on the weekends. One of the panels is my rendition of a couple chilling on the boulevard, possibly listening to good music and enjoying the evening hours. The opposite panel features a local from the barrio enjoying a ride with his dog. The end cap panels depict stone benches much like the ones you see in the area now. Sabor representing the flavor and essence of our culture, Raza referencing the Mexican community which this area is known for.

Los medios de elección son aerosol, acrílico y aerógrafo. Cease es tatuador profesional y se desempeñó como Director de Arte en la escuela BreakFree HipHop durante cinco años. Me encanta el East End. Siempre trato de representar la cultura y la integridad del Second Ward, por lo que mi trabajo representa nuestra cultura en el vecindario. Este mural refleja recuerdos de la infancia del domingo divertido. Cuando era niño, recuerdo a mi tía y su novio paseando por el bulevar tocando canciones antiguas. Siempre supe que Navigation era el lugar para pasar el fin de semana.
Uno de los paneles es mi interpretación de una pareja relajándose en el bulevar, posiblemente escuchando buena música y disfrutando de las horas de la noche. El panel opuesto muestra a un lugareño del barrio disfrutando de un paseo con su perro. Los paneles de los extremos representan bancos de piedra muy parecidos a los que se ven ahora en el área.
Sabor representa el sabor y la esencia de nuestra cultura, Raza hace referencia a la comunidad mexicana por la que esta zona es conocida.
