Prepare yourself to experience one of Houston’s best-kept jazz secrets, vocalist Henrietta Robinson. Henrietta is a Houston native, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Huston-Tillotson University, Austin, TX and Master of Science degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.
Her early musical training included an introduction to both sacred and secular music. She honed her jazz skills while living on the East Coast where she served as a radio host of WGBH’s Friday night edition of the Jazz Gallery in Boston, MA.
Henrietta’s deep contralto voice and scat singing abilities evoke the legacy of Lady Day, Sarah Vaughan, Lester Young, Charlie Parker, and John Coltrane. An evening spent with Henrietta will encompass her creative interpretations of jazz standards, sacred music, and exciting storytelling.
The trio of accompanying musicians will include Brooke Wyatt on piano, A.J. Moyler on bass and Jerré Jackson on drums.
Join The Live Music Movement Foundation in welcoming Henrietta Robinson at 7:00 pm on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Houston Piano Company, 1600 W.13th Street, Houston, TX 77008.
