Houston Cinema Arts Society (HCAS) and the Southwest Alternate Media Project (SWAMP) present the Houston Media Conference. Exhibiting local and national production companies, equipment rental houses and featuring speakers from film, television, digital media, legal, and financial professions to discuss and provide information about the business side of filmmaking, the Houston Media Conference intends to provide an open forum where professionals involved in all aspects of production can meet, greet and engage with representatives from Houston’s film industry. Sergio Lira, the Houston-born and raised producer, will be the keynote speaker this year, with the Houston-premiere of his Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning film In the Summers screening during the conference, preceding it’s theatrical rollout late next month. Lira previously worked at A24 as well as Amazon Studios, helping develop projects before starting his own production company called LUZ Films, focused on producing and co-financing films and other projects from a Latino perspective.
