New indie retail and co-working space will join a popular cafe and an existing studio space east of downtown Houston.
Tout Suite will partner with Construction Concepts on the project. Construction Concepts, a design and build firm that specializes in restaurants and bars, such as The Marque in CityCentre and Prospect Park Sports Bar in the Galleria area, will renovate an existing warehouse on Commerce and Chartres streets. Construction Concepts did the buildout on Tout Suite as well.
The concept will include 6,500 square feet of co-working space along with indie retail.
Josh Weisman, president of Construction Concepts, said his company is in talks with prospective retail tenants that fit the feel of the space.
“It’s a very LA, open-air concept, kind of an anti-mall,” Weisman said. “We’re hand-selecting tenants, similar-minded people with a similar vibe.”
The “virtual workspace” the Co-Op will offer will include a co-working space as well as private offices. Weisman said one of the goals of the Co-Op is to help startups get up and running.
“For up-and-coming lawyers, architects, artists, designers – a very cool eclectic workspace, where you can get email, phone calls, physical mail,” Weisman said. “It allows them a chance to succeed as a startup and have a brick-and-mortar place to call home.”
The renovations are expected to be completed in May.
