Despite Rainy Start, 7th Annual East End Street Fest Smashes Attendance Records

GRAMMY-Award Winners Flaco Jimenez, Augie Meyers and their original TEX-MEX Band

The 7th Annual East End Street Fest returned to the heart of East End Houston this past Saturday, October 20. Over 13,000 registered attendees were treated to an all-new Craft Beer Garden, amazing kids zone, more than 60 artisan and food vendors, and over 20 performers across two stages and the Heritage Dance Zone. Highlights included a visit from Mayor Sylvester Turner who joined the Zydeco Dots on washboard, Houston’s own The GLASS, and the first ever GRAMMY-Award Winners to step on to the East End Street Fest stage – Flaco Jimenez, Augie Meyers and their original TEX-MEX Band.

East End Improvement Corporation (EEIC) and Wells Fargo unveiled the first of seven BCycle “Art Stations” as part of a community program to connect residents and visitors to public art and businesses in East End Houston. The unveiling ceremony included the donation of 36 bicycles and helmets to East End students in coordination with local non-profit Wellness On Wheels (WOW).Â
