In March 2024, HGO will present the fifth annual Giving Voice, the company’s popular celebration of Black artists in opera created by international tenor Lawrence Brownlee. After a sold-out 2023 performance in Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church’s 2,000+ seat cathedral, with viewership of over 11,000 on YouTube, the concert planned for Women’s History Month 2024 promises to be a rousing affair. Ticket proceeds from Giving Voice will support next year’s Opera Summer Camps, presented by collaborative partners Houston Grand Opera and Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church.
