Living Roots: A Guided Walk through Bayou Natives

Join Bayou Preservation Association for Living Roots: A Guided Walk Through Bayou Natives, a free, interactive walking tour exploring the cultural and ecological significance of native plants found along Houston’s bayous.
Led by Eddie Garcia of Habitat Walking Tours, an intersectional storyteller and nature guide, this walk invites participants to experience Houston’s green spaces as living cultural archives. Along the way, attendees will learn about the traditional uses of native plants, from medicinal practices to their enduring cultural importance, while deepening their connection to the landscapes that shape our city.
This guided experience offers a unique opportunity to rediscover the bayous through stories of nature, history, and stewardship.
