On January 22nd, artist and curator Ichikara Valdez will be premiering his Houston Arts Alliance funded film project, Making The Brand.
We’ll be exploring the inner workings of what a typical independent artist experiences with building themselves into a reputable “brand” through local collaboration and curation.
“The reputation for most brands starts with gaining the respect of peers and professionals within their immediate circle. An ecosystem of trust, loyalty and accountability must be built first. It begins with the filtering of relationships and growing of partnerships through an acknowledgment of a mutual goal of progress, cooperative learning and sustainability.”
This project was shot as a documentary and will be previewed in the East End in 2nd Ward.
