Victoria Page (dancer Moira Shearer in her first film
role), a young ballerina cast by obsessive Russian
impresario Lermontov (Anton Walbrook) to star in
his ballet The Red Shoes. Like her character, she is
irresistibly drawn to dancing, but her life becomes torn
between love and art. Shot in glorious Technicolor
by Jack Cardiff, The Red Shoes won Oscars for art
direction and music.
