Houston Children’s Chorus AUDITIONS

August 5 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Houston Children’s Chorus is holding open auditions through August for boys and girls in grades 4 through 8. In addition, Children in grades 2 and 3 can enroll without an audition. Appointments for auditions can be made by emailing the Chorus office at info@houstonchildren.org, or by calling 713.650.3800.
The Houston Children’s Chorus is the city’s premiere choral performance group for children. Founded in 1989, the Chorus has involved over 7,000 children. They have performed for the President of the U.S. on 34 occasions and were featured in the opening ceremonies of the Super Bowl. Most recently, the Chorus performed “Carmina Burana” with the Houston Symphony under the baton of Andres Orozco-Estrada. They also performed the national anthem for the opening ceremonies of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo (RodeoHouston), as well as the world premiere of the opera “Can We Know The Sound of Forgiveness?”. They are called upon to represent the City of Houston and the Mayor’s Office at numerous civic events throughout the year.
They are regularly featured at various galas during the year, as well as weddings, festivals, ribbon-cutting ceremonies and recording projects. Our semi-annual concerts are held in the concert halls at Rice University.
The Chorus has commissioned a major work to be premiered at Carnegie Hall in NYC this next June, 2025. Members of the Chorus are invited to sing in the performance which will also include 100 children from other choirs around the country. The concert will be conducted by Chorus Founder & Director, Stephen Roddy, and will be accompanied by a full orchestra.
