La casa de la abuela

April 19 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

La casa de la abuela is an interdisciplinary performance that reimagines one of the most recognizable cultural spaces in Latino life, the grandmother’s home, as a site of memory, identity, and belonging. The program blends traditional Hispanic folk music reinterpreted by classical singers (Fernando Grimaldo and Luisana Rivas), original scenes inspired by the heightened drama of telenovelas, and an exhibition of paintings by local artists. These elements converge to create an immersive environment that evokes nostalgia while inviting audiences to reflect on the themes of affection, grief, humor, and faith. This trip down memory lane serves as a reminder for the next generation as well as creates a modern cultural experience that honors tradition, community, and connection.
